Our youth-led Resilience Squad is the heart of “Hey, I’m Here Ohio”.
Our Squad members participate in a monthly coaching and community space to gain, share, and practice resilience skills for real life. As a leader of this movement, they’re given professional development and platform to share their insights with thousands of followers along the way.
Our Squad is made up of Ohio-based young people (ages 14-27) who are on a journey of mental health and/or recovery.
How It Works
Cohorts last 8-12 months and each month, our Squad members:
⇒ Meet with our Resilience Coach to practice resilience skills, have group discussions, and build a community with like-minded young leaders.
⇒ Receive communications and marketing development and mentorship from professionals in the industry.
⇒ Lead the charge in creating at least one piece of authentic social media or website content for @HeyImHereOhio to inspire young people across the state.
⇒ Earn cash for their participation and grow their professional experience (up to $200/month + bonuses).
You're a great fit if you are...
⇒ Looking for a way to practice and hone powerful resilience skills and improve your mental wellbeing.
⇒ Want to create impactful content for social media to help normalizes the conversation on mental wellness for youth.
⇒ Are interested in a career in communications, marketing, and/or the mental health workforce.

FAQs
-
To maintain a high quality Resilience Squad, all participants are required to (1) live in Ohio and be between the ages of 14 and 27 (2) apply for membership (3) actively participate. It takes all of us!
-
Yes! We pay youth a stipend of up to $200/mo. That includes payment for your participation in monthly Squad Sessions, and for creating one piece of content per month for the campaign.
-
Right now we are an Ohio-based campaign. However, we do hold quarterly educational sessions to help any youth who is interested grow their resilience.
-
You are asked to participate in monthly 60 - 90 minute sessions as a Squad. In addition, we ask that you spend around 4-8 hours per month creating a piece of social media content for the campaign. Each cohort lasts between 8 and 12 months.
-
As a Resilience Squad, we value and prioritize inclusion and accessibility.
Our community is made up of youth with diverse backgrounds, experiences, religions, abilities, and orientations. We recognize the strength and richness that this diversity brings to our group, and we celebrate and honor the unique perspectives and contributions that each person brings.
In order to ensure accessibility, we strive to provide reasonable accommodations for individuals with disabilities or specific needs. If you require any accommodations to fully participate in the Resilience Squad activities, please let us know in advance, and we will make every effort to accommodate your needs.
As part of our commitment to inclusion, we also welcome feedback and suggestions from our members on how we can further improve accessibility and create a more inclusive environment. Your input is valuable to us, and we are dedicated to continuously learning and growing as an inclusive community.
-
Our Squad is both a coaching and community space for you to gain more clarity, insight, and ease on your mental health journey, while giving you a platform to share your insights with thousands of followers along the way.
This is a closed network of resilience-minded youth who value community and are committed to help each other grow.
-
Not exactly. Everyone on the Squad has lived experience with mental health and/or recovery. Our time together is less about working through issues, and more focused on growing our resilience. We believe that being in community and growing resilience go hand-in-hand, so this is an opportunity to do just that!
-
Our sessions are facilitated by Jen Wright-Schneeman and Leroy Bean. Jen is a trauma and chronic fatigue-informed Nervous System Specialist, integrative health coach, yoga therapist, researcher, and educator. She’s been passionate about the place where Science meets the Spirit since a young age. Leroy Bean is a spoken word poet and teacher who focuses on the experiences of young BIPOC and serves as an example for the power of storytelling and healthy expression; he vocalizes his drive for personal growth. He joined us as a Squad member our first year before taking on the role of co-facilitator.
-
Yes. Whatever we share in Squad meetings, stay in Squad meetings. We value everyone’s journey and respect that everyone is on a different part of their journey. Your story and your privacy matters.

Hey, I’m Here Ohio is sponsored by Ohio Mental Health and Addiction Services.
-
Hey, I'm Here Ohio started in 2019, primarily as a digital media campaign for youth. In 2022, a new team came on board and re-launched the campaign to incorporate more opportunities for regular, direct interaction with youth to take place in addition to the digital media content.
Because youth are the primary audience for this campaign, we wanted youth to be able to connect, share, and practice resilience together in real life, in order to enhance the quality and content of the digital media campaign.
Today, we are expanding to include more young people in this effort and finding additional ways to collaborate with partners across the state of Ohio to spread our message of resilience in the face of adversity.
